Air terjun ini terletak di Taman Nasional Grampians, sebelah barat Melbourne, Australia pada hari Sabtu.
Beberapa saat kemudian, seorang pria berusia 28 tahun asal Taiwan tergelincir dan jatuh ke air.
Saat teman-temannya sudah putus asa berusaha menyelamatkannya, pria itu tenggelam.
Setelah mencari-cari melalui cuplikan GoPro dari perjalanannya, Anneka menemukan bahwa dirinya telah merekam saat pria itu tergelincir masuk ke dalam air dan tenggelam di belakangnya.
Sekelompok orang bisa terlihat di bebatuan dekat air terjun.
Mereka terlihat panik berusaha menyelamatkan pria tersebut.
Tubuh pria yang tenggelam ini baru ditemukan pada pukul 09:30 keesokan harinya.
Anneka Brading yang berusia 24 tahun mengatakan bahwa dia mendengar teman-temannya menjerit dan menunjuk ke air.
“Pada saat itu kami tidak tahu apa yang sedang terjadi. Kami mengira ada binatang di dalam air, ” cerita Anneka Brading.
“Kami tidak mengerti apa yang sedang terjadi dan mereka terus berteriak dan menunjuk,” katanya kepada The Stawell Times.
Anneka Brading baru sadar ketika seorang teman wanita pria itu meraih tongkat GoPro-nya.
Dia baru menyadari ada orang yang tenggelam.
Mereka kemudian mencoba membunyikan alarm darurat menggunakan ponsel.
“Saya keluar dari air dan mencoba memanggil tiga nol (layanan darurat), bertanya kepada semua orang apakah ada yang bertugas.”
“Sayangnya, tidak ada satu orang pun yang bertugas,” kata Anneka.
“Semua orang tidak tahu harus berbuat apa dan kita tidak bisa mengerti.”
“Kakiku gemetar saat aku tahu apa yang sedang terjadi tapi tidak ada yang tahu apa yang harus dilakukan,” kata Anneka Brading.
Sekitar 40 orang sedang mengunjungi air terjun MacKenzie Falls saat itu.
Termasuk seorang penjaga pantai yang tidak bertugas dan akhirnya ikut melompat ke air untuk mencari pria yang tenggelam.
Namun tekanan dari air terjun itu terlalu kuat.
Anneka Brading mengatakan bahwa dia tidak melihat tanda-tanda di sekitarnya yang menunjukkan dilarang berenang.
Mereka akhirnya bisa mendapatkan layanan darurat setelah berlari satu kilometer ke tempat parkir dan mengemudi selama 10 menit lagi.
Wanita ini juga menyayangkan penerimaan jaringan telepon yang susah di daerah tersebut.
Menurut Anneka, paramedis mengatakan bahwa pria tersebut mungkin terjebak di bawah lapisan batu.
Tubuhnya mungkin kembali keesokan paginya.
Pihak berwenang mengatakan ada tiga tanda di wilayah tersebut yang melarang berenang.
Mereka juga mengatakan bahwa jaringan seluler Telstra sedang mempertimbangkan untuk memperluas cakupan ke daerah air terjun tersebut.
